The Tactical Area Communications SAR Group is a quick response organization affilated with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, member of Pierce County Search and Rescue Council. We operate the Communications and Command Center Vehicle for various emergency, disaster related and routine operations in Pierce County.
This vehicle has the latest in communication equipment courtesy of the Pierce County Communication Division, Department of Emergency Management and Pierce County Sheriff's Department. This updated Command and Communication Vehicle will operate well into the next decade. The communications equipment includes satellite and cellular communication equipment. There are two radio consoles with duplication of equipment on each able to cross band between VHF and UHF frequencies.
Any person in the local Tacoma - Pierce County Area interested in working in Emergency Communications for disaster relief, search and rescue, community events and other public safety related events. You are invited to come out to our meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 19:00 (7:00PM) Pierce County Airport (Thun Field). In the Hanger Inn Restaurant. The airport is located on the Meridian Ave South of Puyallup between 160th E. and 176th E.
